Penny Black Halloween by Kathy Racoosin!

Happy Halloween, bloggers! We're thrilled to have Copic color-er extraordinaire, Kathy Racoosin as a guest today! If you aren't already, be sure to check out her blog, The Daily Marker, for oodles of inspiration! Today, she's whipped up a special Halloween exclusive treat just for us!  Below, Kathy tells us in her own words some of her creative process when creating this beauty!

This air vent die from SSS is so versatile and perfect for my foreground. To add quick color and texture stamp directly on top of the paper with the ink pad.

I wanted a darker color under the air vent die. Stamp with Vintage Photo directly onto the paper strip again.

I love the deep embossing when I use the Spellbinders embossing folders. Did you know that they are reversible? This brick "folder" is perfect for so many backgrounds. It's super easy to color with any neutral alcohol markers. I used some warm and cool greys, a few beiges and a yellowish color. Don't worry about blending because you will add some distress ink with Pumice Stone to add highlights to the wall.

Add some distress ink with Vintage Photo to all of the layers on the edges with the distressing tool .

Cut out the image and add some distress ink to Penny Black's witch to make her more witch like.

I also added some white pen detail alongside the red trip on her dress and sleeves.

The sentiment was from SRM stickers. I love how you can cut the words to fit your needs. The sentiment bubbles from SSS are the perfect size for me.

...And here is the finished product!!
 Make your own spooky masterpiece:

Happy Halloween! Enjoy the holiday! :)

Sending Cheer Card (Festive Holiday Card Kit)

Hello, all! Kristina here with a card using supplies from the Festive Holiday Card Kit! We're about to start shipping these holiday kits, so I wanted to show you a way to use the exclusive Gift Box Die that is included in the kit. :)

I also used the Gnome For the Holidays stamp set that comes in the kit to stamp a banner with sentiment. It's a super easy way to add a greeting to a card.

You can pick up this kit for $36.95 HERE. The Festive Holiday Card Kit is NOT part of our usual monthly card kit subscription program. So, if you are a subscriber, you'll need to order this kit separately. Quanities are limited, so don't hesitate too long. :)

Simon Says: Just Add Pearl!

Hi!
Do you ever wake up and wonder where the time went?  I did this morning!  I can't believe October is already almost over...luckily, it made me feel energized and ready to take on the next month!  Hopefully you're feeling ready for the week too : )

To help jump start your week, Simon has another Vintage Challenge!  This week, the theme is pretty fun and easy - just add pearl!  : )    Below is some inspiration from three of the Simon Says Stamp & Show Design team members...and further below are links to even more projects by the DT!

Made by Suzz!
Suzz says: I am always looking for birthday cards and wanted a special one for my younger sister.  She loves her garden and will appreciate all the flowers and pearls.  I used the Hero Arts Fabulous Flourish and Big clock to set the backdrop for my Artistic Outpost Birds.  The Prima Flowers and Clock accents add texture around my birds.

Supplies:

Made by Sandra

Sandra says: Recently I bought this art journal and I wanted to make a double page with my favorite theme, Halloween. My inspiration came from a Halloween tag I made a few weeks ago with the interior of a haunted house. I started with some Dylusion ink sprays for my first layer, but soon it took a whole other direction when I covered almost everything with Gold Paint Dabber. I did a lot of die cutting with my trusty Vagabond, like on the Fence, the Branch Tree and of course the Dress Form. Like always, I enjoyed dressing it up! I spritzed some Crushed Grape Dylusions Spray over it and just had to add some Accents Pearls on it!

Supplies:

Made by May!
May says: One of my favorite pearl tricks is to color a stamp with Distress Markers, then spritz with Perfect Pearls mist and stamp. This gives a gentle watercolor effect, as well as adding a pearlized shimmer to my stamped image. One of my favorite things about using perfect pearls is that in some light, it looks flat, but let the light hit it just right and you have an explosion of sparkle! For this card I also used perfect pearls mist on the background, and perfect pearls powder with perfect medium to create the chicken wire you see on the background.

Supplies:
